Product briefing

What it is and how it fits a coding workflow

Herdr manages the place where agents run rather than supplying the coding model or agent brain. It keeps terminals, panes and processes alive, recognizes many coding agents, exposes their state and provides CLI/API operations for automation. This is useful when one developer is supervising several concurrent sessions across local or remote machines and wants a workspace view instead of manually polling terminals. Pair it with whichever coding agents you trust; do not count Herdr as another model or independent coding agent in comparisons.

Best fit

  • Keeping multiple coding-agent terminals organized and persistent
  • Monitoring agent state across workspaces and connected machines
  • Automating terminal workflows around existing agents

Probably not your fit if…

Writing code by itself, selecting a model, or replacing an agent such as Claude Code or Codex.

What stands out

  • ↗ Persistent pane/workspace model
  • ↗ Recognizes a broad set of coding-agent CLIs
  • ↗ Scriptable CLI and local socket API

Trade-offs to check

  • ! Depends on separately installed coding agents
  • ! Detection richness differs by agent and integration
